JANETTE MASON Trio - About Us

Janette Mason:

"Gorgeous carpets and voicings but her "steam" piano demonstrates what a powerful jazz improviser she is also". John Fordham.

An ‘inspired and inspiring’ keyboard player and improviser, Janette Mason’s work encompasses the vicissitude of jazz, pop, indie and classical. A versatility that has drawn her to work with artists as diverse as Claire Martin, Ian Shaw, Carol Grimes, Annie Whitehead to legendary singer/songwriter Robert Wyatt, and top pop acts Oasis, Pulp, Suzanne Vega and Seal. "The remarkable pianist Janette Mason stood out: warm and lyrical on acoustic piano, yet adept and imaginative enough to bring some excitement to electric piano and synth". Neville Hadsley, The Observer.

Originally training in classical piano and flute, Janette turned professional at nineteen and cut her teeth in theatre and TV, most memorably as keyboard player / MD for Jonathan Ross’ Saturday Zoo. Having completed a Mmus in composition for film and television at the London College of Music, Janette draws upon her tapestry of experiences in her own compositions. The adaptability so appreciated in her playing and her natural flair for orchestration enable her to respond imaginatively to a variety of commissions; from film Paris was a Woman, the documentary Series for Channel 4 The Debt Machine to Le Show with Antoine De Caunes (Channel 4).
